THE GOODS // POSH

Posh
Estrada geral p/
Praia Brava Av. Luiz Boiteux Piazza, 3991
Florianópolis/SC
http://www.poshclub.com.br/

The Scoop:
Located in what's considered the Ibiza of South America (Florianopolis or "Floripa" as the locals call it), Posh is undoubtedly Floripa's golden gem for champagne showers and model bopping. Hey Alessandra, I loved you in that Angels commercial. Shake your bunda with Brazil's high society to world-class House music as the sun peaks over the horizon.

Posh is so fcukn'gangster that they often host VIP parties on remote beaches that are only accessible via speedboat.

Best Time to Frolic:
If you don't mind a bit of rain, the high season (Jan/Feb) begins just after Christmas day and runs through the end of Carnival. The beaches are jumping with TV stars, models and the International jet-set. During this time partying is at an all time high, which also equates to tougher entry, and the beautiful people are plentiful.

Insider Tips:
Come dressed to kill with a couple of lovely ladies with you. Entry will probably be very exclusive. Depending on the night, there may be a $1500 alcohol credit for entry. To avoid this charge, get connected with one of the clubs PR people or book a room in a high end hotel that can get access for its guests. It can save you some dough. Also, brush up on your Portuguese and body language. English is spoken at a minimum.

INAUGURATION ED.: THE GOODS // LOVE

Love Nightclub
1350 Okie St
Washington, DC 20002
http://www.lovetheclub.com

The Scoop:
Heralded as the best nightclub in DC by Washington Post, Love (formerly Dream) Nightclub is an 800 lb gorilla that has been dominating the scene for at least the last 5 years. Love attracts a supreme clientele mix of Sex Kittens, Models, NFL Pro-Bowl Candidates, Professionals, Trend Humpers, and Hip Hop and R&B Royalty.

The interior decor is decent and mildly elegant, but what's even more impressive is the size, layout, and organization. Comprised of 4 luxurious floors, 4 decks, 3 VIP rooms, and a Spectacluar Penthouse Suite, Love provides an adult playhouse that creates different moods and experiences. With this kind of flexibility, one can attend a concert, wisper sweet nothings in an ultra lounge, taste great food at a dinner party, party under the stars on an outside deck, or shake their asses to a variety of music (Hip Hop to House) without leaving the building.

Best Time to Frolic:
Fridays (21+) and Saturdays (18+ Women; 21+ Men) are the main nights, unless there are specially promoted events.

Insider Tips:
Strict dresscode. Not hats, athletic wear, sneakers, Timberlands or any other boots. No ripped or baggy jeans or any other item that could be considered casual. Men must wear a button-down shirt.

Saturdays typically provide a more diverse crowd and the favorite pastime is expensive champagne popping.

Valet parking is recommended, because the surrounding area can be sketchy. If Valet is not an option, I suggest an early arrival to park on the street close to the club or in the Love attended parking lot.

THE GOODS // AREA CLUB

Area Bar and Terrace
Av. Presidente Masaryk 201
11560
Mexico City
http://www.hotelhabita.com

The Scoop:
Area is perhaps the sexiest, hottest creation that all of Mexico City has given birth to, and considering that Mexico City is the world's largest city, that's a very big statement. Some of you non-believers may argue in favor of the painfully-hot habanero peppers or the incredibly sexy women. But, I would think that you may have stopped for a few too many Margaritas before coming to this conclusion.

Located in the superbly cool Habita Hotel, Area Bar and Terrace is an open-air, all fresco roof-top bar that overlooks the parks of Polanco. The interior is minimal with sleek lines & modern finishes, and the bar has a 12-ft-long fireplace perfect for exchanging DNA with a saucy Latina. A lap pool bordering the interior is lit at night by a glass mural containing a network of LEDs, and live DJs spin the best in House and Downtempo for Mexico City's elite.

Best Time to Frolic:
Any months other than May–September. It can be very hot and humid during this time.

Insider Tips:
A magnet for Mexico's model scene, expect gorgeous Latinos in as little as possible lounging on the decks and throughout the lounge. Looking good and dressing the part is a must...Men, leave the board shorts, jeans and open-toe sandals for la playa and women, stillettos and cleavage are your friends. Make your way down the spiral staircase...that's where the VIP play.

THE GOODS // GREENHOUSE

Greenhouse
150 Varick Street (Between Vandam & Spring)
New York, New York
http://www.greenhouseusa.com

The Scoop:
The green trend has quickly invaded our clothing, homes, automobiles, and yes, even the double-bacon-cheeseburger with pesticide ripened tomatoes on a bleached, white sesame-seed bun. Just when the you think the world couldn't possibly have anymore answers for living a greener, cleaner lifestyle, out comes Greenhouse - a solution for the ultimate in eco-partying.

Greenhouse is the first nightlife destination in New York to seek LEED certification and hop aboard the eco-living train. This means that everything from the building materials and garbage disposal to the energy and water usage has to be regulated and reduced. This expensive feat was accomplished by taking a more radical approach in the building process: using a more sustainable bamboo instead of wood to construct the walls; LED lighting to reduce energy usage; waterless urinals and low-flow toilets to cut down on agua; wind-power for the electricity and the sound system; and 8 varieties of real leaves adorn the walls to improve the air quality, creating a lush oasis. In addition to the club's construction, the staff's uniforms are sustainably made in Africa by Bono's eco-clothing company, and the vodka of choice (360 Vodka) comes in a reusable, recycled bottle.

Greenhouse goes through great detail to define the eco-partying standard; however, they do not deprive you of great partying and customer service. The 6,000 square foot lounge and nightclub features two floors of dope DJs and plenty of celebrity clientele. Everyone from Al Gore to Taye Diggs have had a little taste of the green.

Best Time to Frolic:
Fall to Spring before the majority of the nightclub elite hit the Hamptons for the Summer season.

Insider Tips:
The best resident DJs are on Fridays. Unfortunately, Fridays usually come with the bridge and tunnel crowd.

THE GOODS // 1OAK

1OAK
453 west 17TH street
New York, New Nork
http://www.1oaknyc.com

The Scoop:
A supergroup of four of NY's renowned and well established restaurant and lounge gurus have joined forces to create a lounge that caters to a super-high-end clientele -1OAK. Short for One Of A Kind, this high-end lounge attempts to create the aura of classic New York nightlife prior to the Bottle Service Era: boundaries between the celebrity and unknown; art and fashion; and upcoming and established have been smeared to create an interesting atmosphere that is as unpredicatable as it is amicable.

Enjoying the spoils of its philosophy, 1OAK has claimed the status as NY's IT spot for the Super-Rich, Creative, and dangerously Beautiful. Once inside, you’ll see what all the hype is about as you rub elbows with anyone from P. Diddy to Bar Refaeli in a space that, unlike many of its peers, rarely gets unbearably crowded. Hey is that Leo Dicaprio and Usher high-fiving across the way.

The interior, executed by creative director Roy Nachum, is complete with oak-lined ceilings, hand-painted murals of Darwin’s Origin of Species, padded ostrich leather walls, and a bar that looks like a grand piano. And if that isn't enough, the VIP area boasts a crackling fireplace that begs brandies and cigars.

Best Time to Frolic:
Anytime you can get in. The iron-clad door policy can be annoyingly exclusive if you're not connected.

Insider Tips:
Weekends provide a better chance for entry or you can always try a P.Diddy costume. The It crowd in New York parties during the week or jet-sets to other high-dollar locales like Lily Pond in the Hamptons.

THE GOODS // C-BAR

C-Bar
The Belvedere Hotel
84 600 Mykonos, Greece
(30) 2289 0 25 122
http://www.c-bar.com/

The Scoop:
Designed by celebrity party and wedding planner (think Oprah) Colin Cowie, this Mykonos glamour spot is drawing the moneyed, well-heeled, and insanely beautiful. C-Bar is a high-end, indoor-outdoor lounge and poolside bar that’s located in the famed Belvedere Hotel. What the venue lacks in name creativity, Cowie makes up for with his meticulous attention to detail and special ability of creating the perfect ambiance.

The atmosphere of this spot captures the elegance of Mykonos’ glory days, when Jackie O. frequented in oversized Chanel sunglasses and Hermes trousers, yet maintains a modern air of sophistication and lavishness (think crisp white couches with wooden cocktail tables). A crowd of multinational, late-twenty to thirty-somethings’ clink champagne flutes and groove to a sexy lounge sound-track, as the sun descends over the harbor.

In addition to the bubbly, C-Bar boasts a wonderful catalog of specialty cocktails and "small plates" to get your night right, like Co-Jitos over ice and rock star burgers made with kobe beef and pommes souffle (see website for full menu).

Best Time to Frolic:
Mid-Summer (July/August). This is the high season when the weather is consistently warm & dry and the taste-maker crowd is at its height.

Insider Tips:
Being tanned, chisled, and loaded are not requirements to get into this pre-nightclub spot but it sure makes life easier. Also, I strongly suggest that you wear white (it's like the un-official dresscode). Again, it's not a requirement but...
